Law Enforcement Guidelines
Last updated October 19, 2026
ChitChat is operated by John Barbagiannis, New Jersey, USA. We cooperate with law enforcement to keep members safe and to stop illegal activity, including human trafficking, sexual exploitation and abuse.
How to send a request
Email chitchatapp.payment@gmail.com with the subject line “Law Enforcement Request” from an official agency email address. Include:
- your name, badge or ID number, agency, and a way to verify you;
- the ChitChat username(s) involved;
- the information you need and the time period;
- a valid legal document (such as a subpoena, court order or search warrant) for non-public member information.
Emergencies
If there is a risk of death or serious physical harm, including to a child, mark the email “EMERGENCY” and explain the danger. We review emergency requests as a priority and may share information without legal process when the law allows.
Preservation requests
We will preserve available account records for 90 days after receiving a valid preservation request while you obtain legal process.
What we may have
- Account details: username, email, sign-up date, date of birth, and whether the member passed ID verification.
- Profile content, photos, messages, winks, blocks and reports, unless the member deleted them.
- Subscription status. Card details are held by our payment processor, Stripe, not by ChitChat.
- ID document images are processed by Stripe Identity and are not stored by ChitChat.
Our own reporting
We report suspected child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and we report suspected trafficking and other serious crimes to the appropriate authorities. Accounts involved are removed.
Member notice
We may tell a member about a request for their information unless the law or a court order prohibits it, or it would put someone at risk.
