Safety at ChitChat
NOTICE: ChitChat does not conduct criminal background checks or identity screening of its members beyond the email and ID verification described below. Background checks are not a guarantee of safety, and you should always take the safety precautions on this page when meeting someone.
ChitChat is for adults 18 and older who want to meet new people for a relationship or casual dating. Here's how we keep it real and safe.
How we verify members
- Email verification: every member confirms their email with a code. One account per email, and temporary inboxes aren't allowed.
- 18+ only: members confirm their date of birth when they join. Anyone under 18 is removed.
- Only ID-verified members are shown: every profile you can see, wink at or message has passed a government photo ID + live selfie check through Stripe Identity, confirming they're a real adult who matches their ID. Members who haven't verified can browse, but they're hidden from everyone and can't wink or message.
What isn't allowed
No nudity or sexually explicit content, no escort or paid sexual services, no asking for money, no harassment, and no fake profiles. See the full Community Guidelines.
How we enforce it
- Every profile and chat has Block and Report buttons. Our moderators review reports and remove photos or suspend accounts that break the rules.
- New profiles and photos are reviewed by our team.
- On the free plan, phone numbers, emails and social handles are automatically blocked in chat to stop spam and scams.
- We cooperate with law enforcement and report child exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Photos or a profile of you posted without consent?
Anyone, even if you're not a member, can ask us to remove photos, intimate images or a fake profile of them. See Contact for how to send a removal request. We act on these quickly, usually within one business day.
Tips for meeting safely
- Never send money, gift cards or crypto to someone you met online.
- Keep chatting on ChitChat until you trust someone.
- Meet in a public place, tell a friend where you'll be, and arrange your own ride.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave, and report them.
