Privacy Policy
Last updated October 19, 2026
This policy explains what John Barbagiannis (ChitChat) collects when you use ChitChat, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account: your username and password (stored scrambled; we can't read it).
- Email address: to verify you're a real person, to let you log in, and to reset your password. It's never shown to other members.
- Age check: your date of birth and a “verified 18+” result. Your ID photo and selfie are processed by our verification partner, Stripe Identity, and are not stored by ChitChat.
- Profile: gender, who you want to meet, what you're here for, city, bio, interests, photos and videos. Other members can see these.
- Approximate location: your city, or your phone's location rounded to about half a mile, to show distances. Your exact location is never stored or shown.
- Messages, winks, blocks and reports: so the app works and to keep members safe.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We receive your subscription status, not your card or bank details.
How we use it
To run ChitChat, match you with people, keep the community safe (including reviewing reports and enforcing our guidelines), handle subscriptions, and comply with the law. We don't sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
Service providers that help us run ChitChat: Supabase (database and storage), Resend (account emails), Stripe (payments and ID checks) and Vercel (hosting). We may share information with law enforcement when the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.
Your choices
You can edit your profile anytime, and delete your account in the Me tab. Deleting removes your profile, photos, videos and messages. We may keep limited records (like payment history or reports) where the law requires it.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and limited data collection. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
